HRV Biofeedback + Zukor's Drive

Intervention identity

Resonance-frequency HRV biofeedback combined with the Zukor's Drive interactive video game.

Core protocol

Six approximately 30-minute sessions over two weeks:

  1. individualized resonance-frequency assessment;
  2. paced-breathing training;
  3. HRV-breath synchronization; 4–6. biofeedback practice with Zukor's Drive.

Evidence status

Supported

  • physiological response patterns can change after training;
  • SC and LF/HF effects vary by task and by combinations of antisocial behavior, CU traits, and anxiety;
  • the dissertation authors interpret selected changes as enhanced emotion regulation.

Not yet demonstrated from public results-bearing evidence

  • direct decrease in CU trait scores;
  • durable reduction in antisocial/externalizing behavior;
  • durable reduction in anxiety;
  • superiority over an active/sham game or breathing control;
  • independent replication.

2024 conference continuity

The SSSP 2024 Play and Regulate! poster is highly consistent with this intervention lineage but the public programme supplies no outcome data. Do not count it as independent replication.

2026 keynote tension

Fanti's EFCAP/EAPL keynotes state that HRV biofeedback improved emotion regulation and reduced CU traits. The emotion-regulation portion has a physiological basis in the dissertation. The CU-reduction portion currently lacks a located results-bearing source.
