2018 — Neurophysiological heterogeneity across children and young adults

Question

Do CP/CU/anxiety subgroups show distinguishable physiological profiles, and do those patterns differ across developmental samples?

Finding

Primary, secondary, anxious, and low-risk groups differed in autonomic/startle responses; young-adult groups also differed in medial prefrontal response. The pattern was not reducible to one 'low arousal' marker.

Why it matters

This is a convergence node: subgroup theory, psychophysiology, and developmental comparison are tested in the same architecture.

Inference boundary

The samples are cross-sectional age groups, not a longitudinal demonstration that the same physiological pathway persists within individuals from childhood into adulthood.
